Attention Everyone!

So I am happy that I am back making money but being back at work has brought up a concern to me. In writing the following comments I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression or to think that I am speaking to them. I am merely putting somethings out there that I want everyone to keep in mind...especially during the holidays. Everyone has been to a restaurant and had to make the decision of how much to tip their waiter. In situations where the service is bad, sure I agree that a decreased tip amount is warranted. However, I want to point out a few things so that everyone can see the situation through the eyes of a server. First off, except for the time it takes us to put the food in, we have no control over how fast, slow, rare, extra well, fancy looking, or anything else people tend to find wrong with their food. The waiter simply takes food and drink orders and then brings them out to you. So please keep in mind that if you food is not quite up to your standards it is not always the waiter's fault. Secondly I would like to make a point that I really want everyone to keep in the forefront of their mind when visiting a restaurant. The person serving you and your husband or friends or wife and kids is working a job which the total income of their day at work depends on you (the consumer). OK so maybe your waiter didn't absolutely blow you away, I totally understand that. I also understand that there are a lot of servers out there who just don't give a damn about what they are doing. But please keep in mind that if your drinks are constantly refilled and your food came out how you wanted it, your server doesn't deserve to be shafted on the tip. If your food doesn't take exactly how you wanted it to, keep in mind that it is the recipe the company uses and not the server's fault. Keep in mind that 20% is always a good starting point. Also know that 90% of servers don't make more than $5-$10 a week outside of tips.

Thank you for listening! Please keep this in mind next time you go out to eat! Have a great week!
